I want to sing their songs, And know just what they mean, Track every verse along, And chorus in between. I want a go’round at, The instruments they play, To touch their sounds as cast, And feel the motifs sway. I want to copy all, The sounds that they can make, Every grunt, trill, and call, If just for music’s sake. We have a common speech, Of rhythms, tones, and chords, One thorn wall yet to breach, I want to know their words. Songs can be open sends, Of knowledge old and new, And would they be our friends, I want to share ours too. Peace begins face to face, And for that my heart longs, Music could bridge the space, I want to sing their songs.
