Great to get to see how Thornbow and Windburn's friendship has grown and changed, but stayed strong across the years. It's good to in ways like this be reminded that Windburn hasn't always been chief; it's one thing to know it for a fact, it's much more striking to be reminded of it by the characters themselves.

Thanks for the comments... The idea for this probably came because of playing with kiddos myself... they *love* doing this at bodies of water, wherever we go.
I also thought of patterns of interactions and how we sometimes get trenches laid that make it hard to get out of. Thornbow has that history of feeling second-best, AND a history of his lovemates moving on to someone else... I wanted to highlight that *he* plays a role in not continuing the relationship, too.
I also enjoy seeing Windburn and Thornbow's friendship explored.

That's a rally nice "bridging generations" story with young Honey and then Dreamflight following kinda in the steps of her Mom. But what I enjoyed most was getting a glimpse of Thornbow's and Windburn's friendship. We see this way to seldom.

The reactions of both cubs to the water is so precious! This made me so happy to read, I love the way you've written it to make the quiet moments feel so natural and full. It touches on some deeper themes, and the troubles of the two friends but maintains a friendly and warm tone, which I really appreciate. The Thornbow and Windburn friendship is really sweet to read about.

This is such a sweet portrayal! I love stories that cue "a generation later"! First we see Honey as a small child, then in the next scene Dreamflight as a young adult. And Thornbow and Windburn have obviously matured, yet they are elementally the same. It was nice to see Windburn without the increasing mantles of Chiefdom, Recognition, and Family, we saw him just being HIM!
