What a sweet, loving relationship Firecat seems to have had with her mother. The scene between them might not have been long, but with the clear undercurrent of absolute loyalty Firecat shows for her mother and how her mother is shown to clearly understand and appreciate her, it becomes clear to the reader that this was a good parent-child combination. I love how Firecat did her best to sit still and work because she'd promised to, despite the temptations of the outside. And I love how Cubmaker saw that and let her child be a child - almost 12 isn't much after all, especially not to elves. Very cute story that made me smile!

Thank you for this story! It so balances Firecat's desire to please her mother with her impulse for adventure. I like, too, that Firecat is not inept at the work, but rather prefers to go outdoors. It will be so fun to see what comes of these aspects of her personality as she grows up.

A very nice look at some ore facets of Firecat's personality. I like the dynamic with her mother and the way she takes a promise so seriously, even if all in her wants to go and do what she wants. It showed also how much her mother meant to her. Her energy also comes off here and her "in-between"-ness of wanting to be adult and not a child anymore and her still reckless enjoyment of just running wild. I also like the few hints of her not being wolfblooded and knowing the drawbacks on that.

This is a really great look at Firecat! It gives her much more depth of character than has been revealed so far in her more risk-centered fics. I really like the responsibility she shows, and the youthful joy at the end. You fit in reminders about her pure-bloodedness really well, too! It places her really nicely in the past-tribe and it's interesting to get more of a sense of what she'll bring to the current tribe too!

I love this piece because there is a tension between what Firecat "should" do, and her real nature ~ and that the mother gave her permission to do what she REALLY wants. To enjoy the gorgeous day!!
