Quite a ride for poor Thumbprint! Preservers don't seem like the easiest creatures to hang out with, even when they're free to go where they please, so a locked-up one can't be a very restful companion to talk to. The "in that spirit" line was very ominous - I feel for Trickleclaw and long to know more of its future underground 'adventures'!

:) This was such a fun read, and so real. I agree, Thumbpring having to go "off-script" was fabulous. It also makes me wonder if Trickleclaw might, at some point, try shoes just to see what they're like. I also liked the glimpse of pride Inkstain has in his daughter.

I do like all the neat relationships shown here. The one between father and daughter, between Tickleclaw and Inkstain and last but not least the start of the relationship between Thumbprint and Tickleclaw.
The little bug here has such a strong personality and I find myself agreeing with ´Holly. I like how it caught Thumbprint off-guard. Plus I do also like her amazement and reaction to see what she heard about all her life in flesh and blood. The little touches of her following an instinct not to get too close felt very real to me.
Great work on spinning their tale, Chris!

The best part of this, for me, was that moment when Trickleclaw forced Thumbprint to go "off-script". It was great to see her preparations overturned by the realization that the Preserver wasn't just a thing, but its own individual! Great to get to see this important moment in their shared history.

Enchanting! I think Thumbprint handled that very well! She is the smart daughter, I don't remember tons of training on Preserver handling LOL. Reminds me of mob stories where you don't talk to your family about it unless they're in it. LOL
