“Your mother and father needed some alone time. That means you get to spend some time with me.”

She pondered that for a moment, giving him a curious look. “Alone time? Why?”

Bearheart howled with laughter for a moment and gave her another squeeze before setting the she-cub and her fur wrap back on the ground at his side.

Ahahaha! Understand in time, indeed! Reminds me of all the "adult" jokes in children's media that went over my head when I was small (which I noticed when revisiting said media as a grown-up). And the realization that one's parents is a bit of a surprise at that age, as far as I can recall - though I think I was a bit older before I could grasp such things. Lovely grandfather-granddaughter interaction!

Wonderful to see this look at Foxtail's OTHER grandfather, who I think we don't see often enough, given that he was alive until fairly recently! It's too easy to forget that she had another set of grandparents, whom she knew very well. I really dig what a warm contrast Bearheart here is with Blacksnake. ;-) You can really feel Bearheart's joy in his grandchild.

This is such a sweet, tender story. It makes me want to see more of Bearheart. I always get the feeling that Foxtail carries some resentment about not getting enough attention from her parents, but it seems like she definitely got a lot of love from her grandparents.

It's nice to see some time given to Beatheart here. He only passed away so relatively recently so many of the current tribe would still know him. We kinda keep forgetting about that, don't we?
Sweet little glimpse into Foxtail's early childhood and it's also a nice reminder of how big her family was at the time! Adding to all that, Foxtail here is adorable in her childlike way. She must have been a very animated child.
sweet story, Mike.

It's so wonderful to see Bearheart in action here. He is such a natural! So kind and thoughtful and what a sixth sense on him for her mischief. Foxtail was truly blessed to have the grandparents she had.

You really got young Foxtail's personality here! At first I thought the grandfather would be Blacksnake, but what a nice ancestor shout-out to Bearheart! His personality really shines through here as well. I like the small detail of her waking up in a place not her den. That is such a small child experience to have as you can be carried in your sleep. Nice job!
