Haha, poor family who deserve such a kid. ;)
You created a great effect in keeping the front view in dark and the background in light shading. Although he does not look like the Suddendusk we know nowadays I like the bear-ish stature of him, here.

Love everything about this, from Crackle's pose to the rain and the visible "stench"!

I love Crackle's proud pose! Haha! So typically awesome Crackle. Its great that you've added the stink lines to the dung, it really helps explain what she's standing in. It doesn't look like Windsong is too far surprised, I suppose you have to get used to things like this with a daughter like Crackle! XD Evervale seems like she is trying not to laugh. Great piece!

Oh man, you can just smell the stench wafting up off of Crackle! This picture definatly is worth a 1000 words or more! I love the facial expressions of shock and amusement! How did this happen? What did you do? Where were you? ... LOL very giggle worthy and so much fun!

I love the expressions here... and you can *feel* Crackle's grin and how proud of herself she is... Windsong looks like she's about to laugh!

I love the perspective you've chosen for this, Ellen... and the expressions on everyone's faces? Priceless. Great illustration :)

I love this one. I love how Crackle came out here. It's absolutely awesome how she stands there. She's so expressive and I love how lean and childlike her body is. It's so hard to draw little ones... at last for me XD.
I also love how you captured the family's faces. Just stunning. And the shading gives it so much mood.

This is a fun picture. I love the way you can express so much with only one color! And I think you captured the tone of the story perfectly.

Your characters are just dolls! I'm always impressed with how well you manage to create texture with just strokes.
Alternatively. I haven't read this story yet but after seeing this illustration I definatly will! :D

I love Crackle's prudent stand, like she's making her point, and the fact that Evervale can't hold her laughing really cracked me up! Also, I really like how you manage to tell a story in just one color, love the technique :)

I love this, Ellen! Wonderful work -- beautifully shaded, and I like the tint given to the linework. The rain is well-done, but the best part of course is everyone's expressions. Evervale is too cute, but what really wows me is how expressive Crackle is, even though we can only see her from behind. :) Perfect illo for this scene.

My favorite piece of this is Evervale's expression as she's trying (and apparently failing!) not to laugh! Splendid!
