It must be hard for Starskimmer to switch gears from The Great Lover to The Great Mother archetype! Laughed at the line, "As long as you don't mind just sleeping"! Beetle is SO five years old here! (Remembering us kissing ants at six....)

LOL. Poor little Laughter. So easily taken in by Coyote. I *love* that the kiddo confronts her mother on "never sleeping in here!" And how Starskimmer was using it as a "means" of being invited into Cloudy and Greenweave's bed... though I doubt if she'd asked she'd have been denied. Laughter is definitely my favorite here, though... I can "see" her in my mind, feeling badly but also conflicted.

Awww, the reaons for all those bugs in her mother's bed was just sweet. I really like how this story shows that Beetle and her brother caused havoc in different ways when they were younger. Beetle because she wanted to help too much, whereas her brother caused most of the trouble just for the fun of it.
Also enjoyed the interaction between CF and SS here.

Laughter had me smile here. It showes her curiousety and her sweetness. It really reminded me on the Butterfly story and how she stopped her experiments when she found out it hurt the bug. I can see a child doing this kind of thing with the exact same train of thoughts. (*cough* Was one of them*cough*)
I love all the layers here. From parenting styles (CF turning this into a lesson) to Starskimmer leaving this to her Recognized and looking for her own little "compensation" for her unwelcome furmates brought in by her sweet daughter. Also loved the line about Notch. I don't want to know how many problems he caused by putting such things in the heads of cubs over the years (yes I do!).

Sweet story. Lovely moment in their life as a family. :)

cute, sweet cubs are soo evil and sweet sometimes. Drives their parent crazy. Glad Cloudfren and Starskimmer are so forgiving.

Aw, cute! What a great story! I really love reading about Beetle/Laughter's early days, she was such an adorable child. I love her reasoning - it really shows a sweet innocence and a good heart. And Starskimmer's ulterior motives for having Cloudfern involved made me smirk. Nice touch!

I really like how this shows Beetle's kind and curious nature from the youngest age. And how Cloudfern manages to try to turn this into a teaching moment for her.

It occurs to me that it's kind of a neat coincidence that the two stories that got posted today wind up being about two of Starskimmer's children being challenging for her in their own special ways. :)
