Ah, the trials of raising a child - feathers or no feathers ;) I could feel Newt's joy at Moonwing's successful hunt, especially after all the stress of finding food for the poor hungry owl! And the complaints of poor Greenweave and Cloudfern were more than amusing to behold.

A Preserver grocery store!!! Haha! Really, reading the scene in the storage den instantly gave me the impression of a grocery store... including ill-humoured but quick service personnel.
Liked to see how the owl's arrival in Newt's life kept him busy and... his parents annoyed. ;)

I love seeing more of Newt and his owl, and this was a really nice addition to the storyline. It's awesome to see Newt's parental instinct coming out, and the ending was both heartwarming and a bit sad at the same time.

Aww -- I like the realistic touch that while the overall task of raising an owl is enjoyable, it has its irritating side that has to be put up with... like screechy begging! I also really liked Newt's musing about parenthood, and how "they grow up so fast!"

I was so exited to see this in my mail! Thank you so much for this little fic Whitney. As Always I admire the hard work you put into research and how thoroughly you are in it.
I love the callback to Muckabout and their mice catching antics. It's so sweet to see such moments carried over into other stories. I always loved how you do that.
I also like the look into Newt's thoughts and his pride and regret seeing Moonwing growing into himself. You did the balance greatly between those two feelings. It's really a huge responsibilety Newt has taken up here and I like how you manage to make him seem mature but not over his years grown up with what's happening around him.
And yeah.. I just love Cloudfern and Greenweave here (Especially Cloudfern) They are such patient parents/ friends in this situation. Newt is a lucky guy ;)
Love it. Love the winter atmosphere, the details... It's great with your stories that I can not only imagine them visually but also audiology.

Thanks again! Thank you so much!

I really wanted to see want came next for Newt and his pet after Holly's wonderful "Whitemask" fic, so I was glad for an opportunity to tackle this! Newt is always fun to write for, and it was interesting to do a little research about this breed of owl. They can have pretty long lives, so I hope we'll get to enjoy Newt's pet for years to come!

Yay! More owl fiction for Newt! I must admit I'm pretty curious about that unusual pairing. This was a pleasant piece. I think the dream sequence was handled well. Good descriptions for everything, I had very clear mental images while reading.

It's great to see the storyline about Newt and his owl continued! I think most people who have pets can understand the feeling that it's almost like a child, and it certainly fits Newt very well. So I can imagine how proud it made him to witness this moment! It surely makes up for being woken from his sleep - though given his dream, he was probably glad about it anyway. Loved the scene with Greenweave and Cloudfern at the beginning, especially Cloudfern's annoyance at being woken!

Yay! Another appearance of Moonwing! It's great to read more about Newt and his owl - such an interesting glimpse into his mind. I really like how he associates the bird with having a cub, the thought just sort of fits Newt's caring nature. It's a good contrast having those mature, responsible thoughts with the intro of his parents' waking him from his dream! Loved Cloudfern in that bit especially! :)

When a young elf beings home a stray owl who wakes you up at wicked hours of the day, what can you do But wake his A** up and tell him to feed it. Cute story. Glad we got back to the little one that Newt brought home. You are a good writer.
