The fact that Beetle is the one wondering if Willow would like her hair longer shows that Willow IS the dominant one in this relationship.. On a personal note, I had a not for long BF who HATED my hair long. Not so subtle pressure to cut it. That was a red flag as it was a dominance issue, like he was testing me to see how interested I was in HIM.. So I hope one day Beetle will grow ever so much more confident and NOT care what Willow thinks!

:) So much fun to go back and re-read a story long after it's written... I definitely enjoy the interaction between Willow and Beetle. I think, here, at least, Beetle's not so much insecure about herself, as she is not certain of Willow's mindset or reactions... during the period surrounding the unwrappings, Willow was going through so much. I can imagine that brought a LOT of uncertainty to their relationship at the time.

It's really interesting to go back and read this story now that Apologies has come out. It sets up a really nice contrast, showing us a light, loving moment between them, as well as a rare (early) light-hearted use of Willow's powers. Of course, there are still ups and downs ahead for this couple; but this is a really nice reminder of what they do have between them, even if later they have to fight to keep it.

Ahh so this is how it happened and when it happened. It must be nice to have the healer for a lovemate in such regards. ^^
It's nice to see Beetle tried to get Willow to relax and that they seem to experiment a bit with Willow's powers and what she can do and can't do here.
Yet it made me wonder... Beetle seems even more uncertain in her relationship here somehow. Her concern what Willow would think about her changing her looks left me frowning. It might be a personal thing but it always makes me feel a bit uneasy when the first thought in such a situation is "What if they don't like it". On the other hand it could be an interesting aspect to explore in their relationship. I think most lovemates are settling in perfectly comfortable and here I still feel an underlying insecurity from Beetle. I wonder how that might effect their relationship in the long run or if it will just fade away with time.

One thing that took me out of the story a bit and made me wonder what it means was... Why did Beetle wonder what it would be like to have longer hair? I mean it was established that she did have long hair before... Wouldn't she know??

Anyway. Altogether. A nice look on how they interact with each other.
