What I liked most was to see that it is Newt who taught something. Being as young as him it must have been statisfying to have older elves learn from him. It is also great that Newt closes a gap between the Now and the Past. He brought back forgotten knowledge!
I also liked the little reminder that the Holt is not a welfare state. The elves to not just share everything amongst each other, they trade things for other things.

What an action packed story! I love that Newt got to show off, that his knowledge had ties back to one of his fathers and that I got to see Evervale, Windsong and him interact on their own. Great story!

Very neat to see Newt acting as a link to the past, here, and how it's a happy thing for him, rather than a sad or wistful one. I really like the idea of the naturalistic lure and the practical knowledge it represents. And I just LOVE the idea of legendary, wily, big ol' fish! :) That's so true to the nature of the "one that got away" stories that all fishermen tell.

Sooo exciting!! I enjoyed the building tension and am grateful you let it linger a while. I have to say that Newt was so sweet here, talking about Turtle with such admiration a and confidence. I'm also very glad Windsong and Evervale were with him.

I love this one, Whitney. It's so nice to get a feel of Newt remebering the past and takes something from it with him. I also like your setup and that this is for a trade between him and Windsong. It makes for a good connection. The story within the story about the frog lure and Otter's arch enemy is neat as well. You told us so much with this.

I also LOVE that you showed how exiting fishing can be. That was a really thriller here. Great climax and lovely story all over.

It's great to see Newt here as a repository of some of the tribe's knowledge. I tend to forget that he wakes up with this background of information, some of which has probably died with tribe members. Also great to see how he uses that knowledge as a bridge to get to know these unfamiliar new tribe-mates.
