Can't believe I've never commented on this one. The tribal interactions are great - I especially like the closeness it details. :)

I feel bad for Farscout. I love, love how the chieftess thinks of him, even though she just gave birth! Great birth story!!

Aw yay! Such joy in the coming of cubs to the tribe! What a joyous occasion! I love how calm Easysinger is about it, just like yup been here done that. I love that they are passing down the cubname, its a really great concept.

Oh man, can't believe I didn't comment on this one before! (In my defense I think I had given my reaction to the writer at the same time as approval.) What I really liked best about this story was how it showed that a birth is a real community event, drawing in such a wide net of interested elves. I like how the extended family is all in the room, helping to celebrate with the happy couple and new arrival.

(As a note on the illo: no, the Preservers weren't mentioned in the text, but it seemed to me that a birth would be something they'd all be intensely interested in, so I thought it would be fun to include them all.)

Getting some insight into our elves' naming traditions was interesting - reusing good names makes sense for cubnames, since they tend to be exchanged for more "exact" names later on. I loved getting to see so many elves reacting to the new cub and the detail of Farscout finding the new life bittersweet was perfect!

Yay! I'm glad you guys liked my story. Thanks for all the beautiful comments! :D And never fear, Acorn wasn't totally dropped as a cubname, Meep was just added in along with it. ;)

I love how you portray the closeness of this family. The whole story was so heartwarming and brought a smile to my face. There is something so sweet about carrying on a family cubname - I can see why it isn't done often, but when it does happen it really has significant meaning.

I, too, like how Chicory's first name was passed down to her. It does make me wonder, though, the real details of how she became "Meep." I have to agree with the others, too, in that it was nice to see a doting Blacksnake here -- again, not a side of him we've seen often!

I just can't stop giggling at the image of One-Leg all "trollish goggling" -- google-eyed Edith Tumblr, anyone?
(Edith Crawley and One-Leg... now THERE is a crossover pairing I could adore!)

Such a sweet story! A lovely look into one of the miracles of the tribe - the birth of a cub. It's lovely how you shared the cubname and how Easysinger thought to ask permission before agreeing... And Blacksnake is so doting daddy!

I like the idea of cubnames being passed on and around in some cases. It's a nice warm, fuzzy thought, makes you kinda sad the name changed to Meep somewhere down the line. ^^
Sweet story. It was nice to see Blacksnake assuch a family guy here with Easysinger ^^

Vary sweet story. Yes all the family there is var nice to see. As I read it I could feel the closeness of the wonderful family when a new cub is born. Blacksnake is a proud father. Sparkel is just to cut holding a little one. Well done. The story give happyness to the one who reads it:)

Wonderful family story!! I really liked how you not only introduced close chief family members like Windburn, but also brothers and cousins of them.
I was not aware that Chicory had more than one cub name. Always thought it was only Meep and wondered how it came Easysinger and Blacksnake gave her that name. Acorn fits very well and the fact that it was the cubname of Leather is lovely.
Now I am curious how she became Meep... I bet she choose the name herself. ;)
