My favorite line was when Starskimmer's "mother's love" made her plunge into the stink infested room! Very telling that younger Beetle has her tribe name and Coyote still has his cub name!... Pure genius that Starskimmer made Laughter thread needles so they could finish their project... And the obsidian mirror scene was great ~ making something peaceful rather than useful.

Lovely snippets of a mother/daughter relationship. You did a great job coming up with little stories to accompany Kyna's illustrations.
The more I read about their relationship the more I adore it.

Thanks for all the great comments. Working on this was fun, expecially because Kyna created such a wonderful triptych of detailed, story-telling pictures. :)

Getting to see Starskimmer in her role as mother is interesting. Her parenting style comes off as quite laid-back but also very capable, which is in tune with everything else I've read about her. And Laughter/Beetle's ability to focus was a great addition, hinting at her future endevors!

Extremely adorable, of course! Also, really great job with taking Kyna's artwork and turning it into a pretty awesome story. :) I love how patient and caring Starskimmer comes across here as a mother, in all three parts. Like finding a way for her little cub to be involved in an 'expensive' art project, taking care of the stink without a second thought, and just wanting to be with her daughter in the last one. And I totally agree, I love that Beetle wanted to make a peaceful gift for Willow!

What a beautiful look through the ages! I really enjoy seeing Starskimmer playing a maternal role as well as a flirty one; and it's a really wonderful look at Laughter/Beetle growing up; from completely innocent, to slightly devious, to the final more mature outlook. It's a really lovely study of mother and daughter.

This fic is such a lovely companion to Kyna's illo triptych. In particularly love the moment of her finding the stinking wineskin of plug-your-nose-who-knows-what in Beetle's room. That's probably a moment every mother who has teenagers can appreciate (or in my case, simply appreciate as having been a teenage who's mother had to rescue "science experiments" from my room...)

This was a very cute one. I really liked seeing mother and daughter in different situations and through the times. They really have a good relationship and I like how this showed once more how parents and kids can become friends atop of the family bound.

I think I liked Beetle in the last part the most. The way she wants to give her lovemate something peaceful is fitting for her I think. It's also a nice thought.
The way Starskimmer looks at her daughter and how she enjoys her in so many ways is really neat as well.

Somehow that story also made me aware that in some ways, writing a story around pictures is somewhat more difficult then the other way around. You have to take care of so many details the artist put into it. I did only notice now that there is a trace of juice leading from the puddle on the furs to the skin Starskimmer is holding.
Amazing how much you picked up. Makes me want to go back and inspect the picture again ^^
