How care free they all are! Kudos for giving a story to deceased ancestors! The twist at the end was funny!

This story is awesome, and goes so well with the image. I love how light-hearted it is. Its nice to see these two brothers just having fun when they were younger. I also really liked seeing Melody and Beesting enjoying the race just as much as the boys did.

Great work on not only giving us a story about the picture but expanding it in such an unexpected way, Chris!
It was really great that you chose one of the other, less developed/familiar characters for the POV instead of Axehand or Ash. Altogether, the story has such a nice, lively mood and made me smile. Wonderful to learn more about our elves as younglings!

Elders having been playful younglings is always somewhat surreal. Nice slice-of-life story (and of course One-Leg would be the one to suggest switching things around XD).

This is a great Companion piece to Holly's story :) the twist at the end is a lot of fun, and I wonder if they all ended up in the water :) thank you for giving us a great bit of humor.

LOL! Oh, but you have a knack for humor! :D Staggering, indeed. I won't soon forget that image! And I love how you put in the details, too. You even made me notice things about Holly's picture that I had initially missed, such as young Ash's slight frame in comparison to his brother. :)

Great idea to expand the story beyond Holly's pic; your writing fits quite nicely with it! I kind of want to see an illustration of the second part of your fic now, too...wouldn't that be amusing ;P

I love that you decided to expand on the story behind this pic, Chris! As I told you at the time -- I mostly knew what I thought the story was, but didn't have a more detailed notion of it, so it was fun to see you take it and run with it. And I especially like how you came up with such a great idea for a funny twist ending. :) And that it gives Melody a bit of development that she sorely needs. Great job!

This is a lot of fun -- and like Melanie also noted, your reference to Axehand's "strong legs" immediately struck me. I envy your short-short fic writing talent!

Ahh when inspiration strikes by the sight of a picture :)
That's a lovely piece of writing for a lovely piece of art. And it's good to see something from One-Leg again. I kinda missed him ;)

What I always admire is how certain things tend to stick with me with your shorter stories. Like here, the mentioning of Axhand's strong legs. It's a weird thing to pop out to me I think, but I couldn't help it. It just further illustrated to me how strong of a person One-Leg is. For some weird reason.

Anyway this was fun to read. I like that you picked Melody for the POV and how you wove in the details of the picture. It makes everything so lively and is paying credit to Holly's sense for detail.

Love the idea and love how "young" two of our elders come across here. Like said. It's fun!

Hahaha! So cool that you wrote a story accompanying this pic. Could not have Axehand loose, could you? ;)
The end ist hilarious, especially considering how fragile and small Melody looks. Poor thing! But I admire her attitude!
