This end to the whole storyline was a bit unexpected and I'm left both happy and a bit sad. I hoped for two cubs the entire storyline and I'm so happy for Snowfall and Kestrel!

I think what struck to me most was the feeling of "one last time we will try it". It shines through the full length of the story and I feel a bit sad because of it. But Willow really growed in this half-year, she's not longer overconfident but really knows what she can do and she truly puts her whole ability in this "last chance". And I think this is really the point here and it's so good to see that a healer-induced pregnancy is not easily done but a real piece of hard work for a healer.

Congratulations to a wonderful ending to this Storyline and I'm looking forward to what our newest cubs will contribute to the Tribe!

Bittersweet indeed. The change in attitude from the three-mates gave the whole story a somber mood, which made the ending very much like the title. And I can't help worrying now that there are two babies that might be lost at any time.

After the preceding stories, I was really glad to see that the trio and Willow did decide to try again -- and I think it's key that they DID wait a half a year before being ready to do so. I like how it all comes together and how they are "rewarded" for their perserverance; maybe "the High Ones" are still looking out for them, in a way? ;-)

I felt a bit badly that the resolution of this storyline was a bit rushed. I think that ordinarily, the folks involved in it would have wanted to space it out a bit more, but they were pressured by outside needs into having to wrap it up more quickly to get to that resolution. Even so, I think it works pretty satisfyingly.

Ohhh I was guessing if it would happen that both can get pregnant but it did! At the beginning of this I was just thinking of them picking up the try again after recovering but seeing it work out was a nice surprise.

I only can agree. Willow matured so much and I love how she did give her last to make this happen. I am certain these cubs will be something special to Willow as well as to the lovemats here.

Can't wait to see more of this folding out. Very atmospheric written.

Oh yay I'm excited again! I'm happy that they tried to do it again.
Its good that they all took a fair amount of time before they tried to do this again, and they didn't just jump into it, they took everyone in their group's opinions on the situation into account. I'm happy and hope it works out for them this time!

Woah... I expected a heavy-duty story, given the storyline in question, but I did NOT expect to have such an enormous, tidal-wave rush of absolute respect for Willow here. I don't know that I've ever seen an EQ Healer work so hard -- including the "leading lady" Leetah. At least, I can't think of an example right now. I too agree that she has really shown a growth of maturity as of this story; and I was also impressed that she did not merely wallow for those months in guilt, but sought out a solution to what went wrong and how -- maybe, just maybe -- to fix it this time. I can only agree with the words "Dear, dear child"! I do feel some trepidation about these pregnancies -- how can I help it? -- but the whole tone of this story gives me real hope for this family!

Just in case it isn't entirely clear, since "Gone" and "Bittersweet" were published so close to one another, there is half a year of Holt time between the two. We would have liked to space them out more, but this is what happens when you procrastinate too much XD!

Oh, wow, I did not expected this! Have not thought they would try again so soon.... Of course I am happy for Kestrel and her lifemates but I must admit I wondered about the little amount of mourning, even more so because an unborn's death never happened before.
But I am curious about the new tribe member.

I can only say that this makes me cry every time I read it. I'm so glad that this followed in the wake of 'gone' and that you ended it as you have!

Whoa! Didn't expect that ending, but it does make perfect sense. If this was their last try, it makes sense that Willow would give it her all and increase their chances of at least one success. It also shows that Willow really does have a better feeling for what she's doing. I really hope that it does work out this time because if both cubs are born it will be such a unique relationship. They will almost be twins, and it will add so much cohesiveness to the family as a whole as Kestral and Snowfall get to share this experience together. :)

Wow. This story just makes me reflect on how it's just TOO easy for humans to get pregnant. I think we, as a species, would be so better off it ladies had to really want a child before one could be sparked like this... you just know the children being born to these three elves are going to be so loved and so cherished!

Yay, I'm so glad we finally arrived at this point! Thank you for the work on this story!

I agree with Heidi, Willow really has matured a lot, and it shows very well in this. And of course, I'm really happy that the three of them were able to recover from the blow and give it another chance!

Call me biased, but what I really like about this story, aside from the obvious (I'll keep from being detailed here, lest I spoil things for readers who may not have looked at the story yet), is how you've shown that Willow has really matured since the last healer-related tragedy. She handles things so much better and gives it her all only when she knows it's all right with those with whom she's working.

I also wonder where the lovemated trio are going to go from here! ;) Certainly an interesting turn of events!
