Oh wow. First off, it's wonderful to see Snowfall and Nightstorm as sisters, these two are so different but there's so much love and care and hope in the initial bit. The second half is an emotional gut-punch. Well handled. Willow really brings about the sense of hopelessness and it's wonderful to see the family still able to rely on each other after the tragedy.

Miscarriage isn't always an easy topic to write about, but you handle it well. Even though I knew what was coming, the first scene with Snowfall and Nightstorm was foreshadowing enough without being too obvious. When the bleeding started I was on the edge of my seat and by the end I had tears in my eyes.

It really struck me in this story how the elves really have no experience with some things that we humans take for granted; it emphasizes the differences between us very well, and the bewilderment of all those involved makes it doubly poignant, I think. While it wouldn't be accurate to say I was "glad" to see this development, I think it was worthwhile to show that there were real risks in what they are trying to do.

This was just heartbreaking :(
I feel so sad for all involved. The helplessness of Willow and Cloudfern stung badly and the grief of the lifemates just as well.
I can't imagine how they must have felt here. I Mean even through in "our" world such a thing happens it still seems awfully unfair and inexplicable to us - even if we kinda know why such things happen, but to the elves.. this must be something they haven't witnessed yet. At last not in this form, did they?

I liked the silent shock hanging over this story and you have to admire how strong both Kestrel and Snowfall are to reach out and comfort others and reassure them while being in such pain.

Honestly this story made me tear up. It was so deeply sad, and so obviously painful for the threemates, and Willow. To have the joy of another cub but then all too soon it be ripped away is a terrifying concept. Though I have to admit, whether I want to or not, that taking this story line in this direction was an amazing thought. It really shows how things don't always go as perfectly as you may think, and no matter how good your intentions are sometime bad things just happen to good people.

I wish there was a way to reply to one comment in particular...@Razzle It was very depressing for us to write, too :( I imagine there was a Howl for this cub, and hopefully that can be written at some point. However, these were already so backdated that we didn't have time to write another story for that (not yet, anyway...)

This really is very, very sad -- even depressing. :,( It's never easy for anyone to deal with a miscarriage, and I feel deeply for them. One thing this maes me want toknow --will there be a howl for the cub? Even though it was still a pregnancy and we didn't get to know the cub in-person, the elves could share their experiences and hopes during the short time period? These poor threemates!!

Omg, I feel so sorry for them :( After so many attempts it finally took, and now it all seems for nothing... I can imagine them feeling like that, too. I hope the threesome pulls through and that they don't give up. Such a sad story :(

Oh noooooos!!! So sad!
But as Joanne already wrote: I like this turn because it promises a lot of other stories and character development. Happy ends are mostly so final. With this plot you opened a new dimension for the threemate and I am curious how this will continue.

While I definately wouldn't say I'm happy with the outcome of this story, I am glad that this story line is continuing and providing more opportunity for the characters to grow and develop. It's going to be hard for the threesome, dealing with the loss and the grieving for the might-have-beens. I wonder if they will decide it's worth the risk to try again.

The sadness is palpable - I'm so sorry for the loss! :( This isn't just going to affect them, either... the whole tribe is going to feel the loss... :( Poor trio - and poor healer... poor little cub we won't meet.

I agree with Heidi -- this is such an unexpected turn, and you do a very good job of expressing their heartbreak and concern.

This was such an unexpected turn in this storyline. It's been an interesting journey for all of them, I'm sure, and you can really feel everyone's concern and heartbreak.
