I could see why Chicory would feel embarrassed. Here you know my soul name and you STILL think I would do something stupid?? LOL... Love this story of apres Recognition!!

The conflict of having to respect your pregnant lifemate's decisions, versus worrying about your future child; always a subject worth exploring! Interesting contrast to the story before it.

I really loved to see RP and Chicory colliding so shortly after their Recognition here. One could think that would diminish the happy event but hey, that`s life, isn`t it? Recognition is not only sunshine, flowers and rainbows. I think it must be very confusing and maybe even disturbing. So thanks for making this so "out of real life" where lovers misunderstand each other more often than not, too.
I liked to see that Chicory has real common sense, although others might not have thought that of her... not even her longest friend and new soulamte. (poor girl!)
Very well done! :)

This was rather good. I'm glad you did something with the experiments Chicory had been conducting, since I had felt it a bit of a loose thread.

I have to agree with what others have said, it is really great seeing how Chicory is adjusting to this new, monumental event in her life. I really like how Chicory and Rainpace's relationship is being portrayed. They were always friends, but now there's something else between them and it's going to take a little time to get used to.

This story had a lot of great little touches to it -- such as the matter of Chicory having forgotten her clothes in the excitement of Recognition, and the way Greenweave and Cloudfern convey that it's become a running joke. But mostly, like others, I really liked seeing how Chicory takes this new phase of her life in stride in a practical way, while at the same time showing that she isn't immediately adjusted to everything that has changed for her. This is a sweet look at the first stages of she and Rainpace negotiating their new relationship.

Oh, this was great!I agree with Mel, it's so great to see it portrayed that it isn't easy but rather confusing to share your soulname with someone all of a sudden. And it was such a strong moment when Chicory realized that she had someone else to take care of than herself. I also liked that while Recognition gave them a new understanding of each other, Rainpace and Chicory can still misunderstand each other and fight.

And it's great that Chicory is just postponing her experiments - for me it shows that while she realizes her responsibility, she still remains faithful to herself and her belief in the importance of her work.

Ohhh! I am getting a fan of your writing. Love this and how much it picks up. Especially like it that you show that even if you love them and it's the will of the High Ones, sharing a soulname is not an easy thing. (I often dislike how it's portrait in some other holts. I think it IS a big deal!)

Also loved that Chicory isn't giving up her project completely but just postpones it. The way she got up and started gathering the toxic stuff really was a strong moment.

Lovely bit of writing.

Razzle, this was great! I really like seeing that Chicory takes her pregnancy seriously! And so glad to see her making a decision for the better - for now! :) Also nice to see that she realizes that she has responsibility toward her cub for a time, and realizes that she will be able to go back to her work - later. I think its easier for the elves to do that, though... they live a LOT longer than we do.

Special thanks to Holly for the line about chipping an edge on the knife -- I love how your detailed little mind works! ;)
