Oh, I can really relate to Chicory here! I don't like winters too, especially when they're never ending...
She and Foxtail make an interesting pair, one you don't immediately think of, although they're very close related. But I'm happy for Chicory that little Foxtail cheered her up a bit here!

Winter when you have no central heating to warm you up after a day of skiing or internet to huddle up to once the darkness and cold become too much; I can definitely see how Chicory would get depressed after a while. Nice moment of bonding between aunt and niece.

Oh, it's so nice to see some relationships explored that didn't have enough time in the spotlight yet :). It's funny, like Holly said, to see a time when Chicory appeared so much older than Foxtail, while now they appear more or less the same age. Also, really interesting to see a darker time for Chicory - she appears to be rather cheerful most of the time, so it was definitely a new side to her! Good that despite her resistance at first, she let Foxtail in and was cheered up in the end!

It was very interesting to see this darker, depressed side of Chicory. It is definitely an unusual streak in an elf (I guess)... but so understandible.

This is an obvious relationship when you think of it -- Chicory loves showing her world to cubs, and in Foxtail she had a niece somewhat neglected by her parents, which seems to offer an obvious opening for Chicory to have been a big part of little Foxtail's life. Great to see this in practice! I also really liked the little reference to the idea that there were times when she was little that Foxtail was on the outs with the older elves who would become some of her closest friends when she was grown.

This was a sweet read. I liked this peek into the relationship between Chicory and her niece. We see far to less of it.
The atmosphere is really nice. Winters can feel so long :)

:) I very much like to see Chicory w/ her niece! :) Sometimes it's so easy to forget the relationship they have. I also like that Chicory agrees to give FT some one-on-one time, and promises that to her. Foxtail needed moments like that in her early childhood, I'm thinking.
