Poor Newt :( This story may be short, but there's a lot of emotional punch packed into it all the same. Always nice to see stories that connect Newt's past with the present.

I always like reading stories about those elves who left behind their whole family, their whole world. You did a great job in showing a glimpse of the sadness, the hurt that goes along with this. So sad! :(

Very touching! It's nice to see that Newt has enough starsong in him to recall his brother's scent, even if it's been a few years since he smelled it last.

When I read "About Fairness", it just hit me that Newt and Birdcatcher never did have the chance to rematch like this. So the idea for this story hit, and wouldn't leave me alone. I'm glad you guys liked it! :)

This is a short story, but it manages to show so much. Its really a bittersweet story. How he is able to beat his brother now but now his brother isn't actually there to test himself against. It really makes me want to give Newt a hug. Good writing Razzle.

Aw, this was so sweet - very melancholic but in a beautiful way! It's so great to see Mel's story revisited in this way, and it's such a sweet way for Newt to remember his brother. I love such little snippets, it shows that a story doesn't have to be super-long to tell us things :).

(Side note: The first sentence in the fourth paragraph is slightly messed up, repeating the second part another time. A C&P mistake?)

Short but really effective! I like the subtle sense that through his memories, Newt's family is still "with" him in a way.

Thank you for this story Razzle. It's so melancholic. Happy and sad at the same time. I love to see how Newt finds his own little ways to cope with situations. Really touching ^^

I appreciate seeing that, even after time passes, Newt remembers things about his brothers, and celebrates and honors those memories in small ways. That Cedar is ancient by now... but it's still there, which has to be reassuring in some ways. I'm glad Newt could "win" here. :)
