I felt for Newt all the way through this story. I'd wondered if anyone had told him about how his parents were lost and how he'd reacted to it. How typical of him to turn it into a way to give others advice, while still mourning. I hope Honey will continue to think his words over, instead of running away from them completely.

I really love seeing Honey and Newt interact - they do make a very interesting pair. Like the others had said, Honey could learn a lot from Newt's innocent but optimistic and determined outlook on life but it's great that she can't accept it right away. I'm very interested in seeing where this will go! And I really liked the metaphors they were using. Very strong!

I'm glad you liked it and yes, I didn't want it to be a quick fix, I love to show process.

Newt and Honey really do make an intriguing pair -- they have a lot to give to each other, and it's always a welcome reminder that they are closely related. I like the way there's some talking in metaphors here, until it becomes direct. But I also liked that Honey pulled back at the end; it seems more realistic for her to do that, rather than for everything to be fixed too quickly or too easily (just as Newt continues to wrestle with his own feelings).

Fabulous stuff, Melanie! I hope Newt continues to wear Honey down like this. I like what you're doing with them!

I think the tagline was perfect for this -that both know Love can change.... I'm glad, here, that Honey didn't let Newt change her so easily. I am glad to see her going through a process.... It will be neat to see who she is in the end.

I am always impressed how often Newt manages to be so wise in his innocence. That is really charming about the boy.
I also liked that Honey could not be charmed into forgiveness so easily. That is just like her!

I think that Newt still needs to learn that sometimes you just can't make emotion see reason. Very few of us ever grow up that much.

Aw man--the whole lot of them needs a BIG hug! I agree with Newt. Reconcilation is a gift from a being different than the animal-kind. Lovely story. He's such a good kid. Makes you want to ruffle his hair, a bit....just a bit. ;)
