I think I might've been crying a little bit too by the end of this... it's really good, any story that portrays Honey's perfectly real positive side as well, which we hear about but rarely see. I don't think it's surprising that she and Newt would have such a bond - it almost seems natural, they both have a tender heart, eventually, and probably share more than we often realize. And man, Whit, your way with words... "you could grow flowers with that smile", that is just so simple and sweet. Just the kind of thing an elf would say to break right into your heart.

Honey being the position of the one giving comfort instead of the other way around was intersting to read about. Newt being his adorable self and getting to have a moment of vunerablity later on, put nice contrast into the story.

My inspiration for this fic was that I wanted to show Honey and Newt together in a positive light -- they've got a strange sort of bond in both having been in wrapstuff, and I wanted to explore that a little.

I really like the balance of this. Newt's generous nature seems like a given, and of course, he's a tribemate without any preconceived notions about Honey. But I like the sense in the second half that even Newt has his off days... and maybe it's his own influence that helps Honey determine to do him a good turn.

How wonderful! Somehow I am always "relieve" when seeing one of those who came out of Wrappstuff after many many years still mourning over their losses. Even after years. That makes them so much more believable characters! That makes RTH such a wonderful holt because plausibility and character development are always held above all.
Really enjoyed the dialogues between those two, and Honey`s tenderness towards her uncle at the end. She grew really fond of the boy. I am glad.

This story really makes me think about those who have been in wrapstuff. It would be an incredibly distressing experience and it seems like it would create a bond of sorts for those who had been through it, even if all of their experiences weren't quite the same. I love that Honey and Newt are able to get comfort from the shared memory of loved ones and family.

Aww, that was so sweet. I loved how in the first part, Newt comforts Honey (even if she's unwilling to) and how she returns the favor, years later. I believe the repetition of words make it so much stronger (and I loved how Honey said 'uncle' to Newt anyway! As a gesture that she's grown over the years, or because it's a word of comfort?) Love to see more stories from your hands, Whit! :D

I never cease to be amazed by your writing, Whitney! :) I think Newt and Honey are so good for each other... and it's good to see there's more to Honey than just "woe is me."

Thank you so much Whitney. I couldn't have asked for more to that picture I did:) This is so sweet and so optimistic in a way.I really like the feel of this story.

As Mareike said it's so sweet to both of them taking turns in comforting each other and it's nice to see Honey in that role. She's so nice here. And for some reason it stroke me the most how she sent someone away to give Newt the time he needed just there to comfort him. <3

Awww! How sweet! *melts* It's so sweet to see Newt comfort Honey - and her comfort him in return. I love Newt's gentle persistence when Honey tries to send him away, and the sweet gesture with the flower, and it's wonderful to see that Honey was able to set aside her grievances and come to comfort Newt. And the phrase with the smile is oh-so-lovely! (As a side note, I was amused that Honey called Newt uncle in the end despite saying she wouldn't :p.)
