Such a sweet and tender story, and a little sad... to remember that Kestrel has lived so long, but only had the one child, and him being gone now, it's a little heartbreaking to read about her longing. Good thing it takes a village (holt) to raise a child! The idea of her floating the toys for Copper was really cute. Too bad you can't magically make babies sleep! ;)

Nice touch that Farscout was reluctant to let someone else watch over his cub, even when he was exhausted. The kind of trauma he's been through will do that to you. I liked that Copper didn't keep people awake by crying and that Kestrel enjoyed being kept awake.

Awwwwwwwwww, poor Kestrel! And Farscout makes such an adorable worrying mother hen, I must agree. ;) I can completely see how he would have developed some serious seperation anxiety issues with his family! Brightwood makes an interesting contrast, having only "waited" the normal 2 turns for Copper (at least as far as she experienced awake) and having only the normal amount of concern with leaving her cub with a tribemate. :) I also love Kestrels pure, beautiful joy at getting Copper for the day! You really did a lovely job of writing for the picture, and expanding with scenes around it as well as describing the events in the picture itself. :) I love how it's "see the toys fly AGAIN"! :D So cute, and it makes me even happier about how the 'trying to have a baby' storyline is going as of now! :D

I really enjoyed this fic. It was sweet to see Farscout and Brightwood finally get a rest, thanks to Kestrel. I really enjoyed seeing the sweet way she treated Copper, and was saddened to see her pain. Hopefully everything will turn out well for her.

I love this fic -- although maybe my favorite moment is after Farscout's come to collect Copper, and Kestrel just levitates the sleeping baby into his arms. Beautiful!

I like how this underscores the sense of community in the tribe, how so many of the adults are willing to help out new parents -- and also how it gives us a glimpse of Kestrel's desires to be a mother again. Excellent accompaniment to the picture!

Oh, by the time I read to the end I just hope Kestrel's lovemates come home quickly to snuggle her. You pull at the heart so well there! And it's a lovely emotional contrast to Farscout's contentedness. So happy that you decided to write this story, and I'm really looking foward to seeing what comes next for Kestrel! :)

Totally sweet! Happy you chose this pic!
I loved Farscouts reactions to giving his cub to someone else.
Let`s hope Kestrel`s wish will be fulfilled soon.

Aww, this was a great little slice of life. Lovely look at Brightwood and Farscout as new parents (how understandable that Farscout barely can bring himself to give his daughter into other hands!) and how the tribe helps out when needed. And it's so fitting that Kestrel enjoys the time with the little one but it also makes her realize her own longing for a cub - it ties in great with the ongoing storyline of her and her mates trying to make this wish come true!

Slice of life from my life right now... with a toddler and a 3 month old, the sleepless nights are well-known to me. I don't think I had anyone watch my son for an overnight till he was about 2 years old... I'm glad that the Holt is close-knit enough that Farscout and Brightwood would take the offer when Copper was finally old enough to sleep all night. :)

I love this look at Farscout and Brightwood as new parents. Most new parents are torn between wanting to be with their child and wanting SLEEP, and these two are no exception. Of course, in a tribe this close, there are always several willing babysitters. I was happy to see Kestrel get to be with the baby for awhile :)

Awww .. that was kinda bittersweet. It really hit the mood of the pictur to see this soft joy of Kestrel paired with this longing for an own cub again. The last bit as really heartbreaking and I wished someone had been there to give her a hug.

... and Farcout was kinda adorable. I mean I see why he's so attached to his kid... like he said he waited SO long, but it still is. *snicker*
Por Copper on day will have to struggle to get out from under his wings, I fear :P
