Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, poor them! :,( Personally, I do see Dreamflight as a sympathetic character, and you expressed her that way really well here. I also thought it was interesting, the two characters grieving and waiting together, when one is around to see the unwrappings and the other is not. Of course, neither one knows in *this* story which or both or neither would get to see the unwrappings, so the feelings of uncertain hope are the same either way! Poor, poor Birdcatcher to have watched two, younger, family members go into wrapstuff! And poor Dreamflight, losing a parent to it (however temporary).

Birdcatcher making Dreamflight feel needed was a very smart move from him; and an honest one, if I read his character right.

It's a short story but very touching. I love that we are reminded that Dreamflight wasn't completely alone after her mother went into wrapstuff. And how hard it must have been for Birdcatcher, his Brother Newt went into wrapstuff and his daughter too! I am glad that he was there for Dreamflight and she for her grandfather, when they bothe were grieving for Honey.

It's fantastic to see Birdcatcher here as a character in his own right, affected by the events that have affected Dreamflight so badly; and that he's wise about what she needs, and how to present it to her in a way she can accept. I definitely want to see more of him as a character and the way he related to his family.

Much as many would disagree, I find Dreamflight to be a sympathetic character... she lost her mother, then had to realize that what she'd thought was true her whole life wasn't... There had to be some time to grieve... And I think it's sometimes too easy to think that in a Holt everyone gets along and is perfect... :) Dreamflight brings some reality to it... and even if she is a little more like her mother, she isn't completely Honey, either... :)

That was a great reminder, both to Dreamflight herself and to us as readers, that Dreamflight was not the only one suffering after Honey was wrapped. Poor Birdcatcher, it must have been terribly hard to watch Honey go into wrapstuff after all those years of waiting for Newt. I'm glad that Dreamflight was able to see and accept his need for someone to care for him and acknowledge her own need as well.

Short but very nice.
Men Dreamflight can be a very self-centered elf, can't she? It sometimes sure ain't easy with her. I'm glad through Birdcatcher was there and practically presented himself to her already in. Good to know Dreamfight wasn't as alone a she thought.
