I thought that was genius that Rainpace had found a loop-hole in the previous shunning through music. And not to be able to do that again must be anguish! :(

I think that Beetle is very lucky to have the friends she does. For them all to come up and comfort their friend, knowing how hard it was going to be on her. Then in the end all of them seeking comfort in one another after the elders told the story of Owl. In this you can really see how a group of people can make you feel better about something, and how sad it can make you that one other cannot join you, and you cannot help protect them. Amazingly written.

It was really good to see these friends pull together like this, out of a generous urge to help Beetle and each other. It really underscores how tight a community this is -- that they anticipated the need, and didn't have to be told to be mindful of how events would be affecting Beetle through her connection to Willow.

:) Beetle was definitely glad for the company! I can imagine that a send-sharing like that could make the blood run cold.

Seeing the connection between these friends, as well as getting to know that Rainpace played music for Notch, Foxtail and Beetle during their shunning, was very touching and made me feel I got yet another piece of the puzzle of their personalities.

I love seeing all the reactions to the shared sending! It was really nice to see the companionship between the younger elves - I especially liked seeing that Dreamflight was there, too, because she always seems to be a bit on the outside of that group, with Notch, Foxtail, Rainpace, Willow and Beetle being so close. And it was wonderful to see their reactions as some of those who have nothing but stories to connect with this episode, the deep impression the sending made on them.

That was so nice to read. And well done you barely noticed that more then one author was included in this piece (Only at the end it thew me a bit off when the POV suddenly seemed to change from Beetle to Rainpace, had to gather up the story again)
Anyhow it was so nice to see how self given but still appreciated the friendship and closeness seems. For me as someone who barely can let other to close to hr skin it was a great demonstration of trust. I could feel the warmth spreading between them and it was touching to see how they all care for Willow and Beetle.
And it was also nice to see the reaction of some younger elves to this story sending as well. Altogether a great read!

Ah, the dogpile story ;) We've seen the sending/shunning from the perspective of the elders, who lived through the memories themselves, and from Willow, who was the one who had to deal with the aftermath of the sending alone. It was interesting to see it now from the perspective of Willow's friends, the younger generation. Even though they hadn't had to live through Owl's madness, they were no less affected by the sending. They could turn to each other for comfort, though, which made it different from Willow's experience. Their feeling at the end of wanting to help Willow but not being able to made it all the more sad. A very poignant read :)
