I like so many things about this story -- the way the action on the word-hunt arches back into the theme of Rainpace's family life; how there are echoes in it of Moss's experience long ago; and how fascinating the human's actions are, since we can only observe them, not completely know what he means by them. It's good to get to see these two musicians interact, as well; and to see Moss being the wise elder.

Between this and the story where Moss was almost caught, I think our elves need to initiate first contact, and soon! :)Lol. :) I especially like the scene with Glow - it's so cute! And the exploration of tribe dynamics, like how elves slowly grow up in some ways - here is Rainpace, a father, and just now really having a good conversation with moss and hopefully realizing that elders are just elves, too.

The difference between human and elfin music is an nice concept mentioned more than once in canon, which I haven't seen used much in other Holts. Rainpace and Moss' fascination with it made this a very interesting read, and Moss using Glow as a drum made me chuckle.

Aww, this is so sweet, seeing Rainpace and Glow like this. I loved the part where she was too startled by the note to keep crying! Yikes, if Rainpace, Moss, and anyelf else isn't more careful, there WILL be first contact with humans sooner or later -- by accident! O_O

Finally I came around to read it all ^^
This is such a nice story. I love the interaction between the elves here and I have to admit, I feel a little for poor Rainpace XD Still I like the whole "Music makes the work go round" theme :) It seems like a good way to start any relationship.

This was a great piece! It's always nice to see more of the Word Hunter work and especially great to see Rainpace and Moss finding common ground in their interest for the human music. Also, great tie-in with that earlier story and Moss' secret - I wonder what will come of that!

Yaaaay! ;) Thanks again for showing Rainpace`s dedication to music... and his strange attitude when elders are around. I hope Moss will teach him better, soon! :D
