I really liked seeing in this that the relationship between True Edge and Fadestar wasn't instantly easy. It made sense for the threesome to "adopt" her and try to be surrogate parents to her once she woke up, and I'm sure that was good for her in the long run. But at the same time, it couldn't have been easy -- and what this story doesn't make a big deal out of, but which is lurking in the background nonetheless, is the fact that True Edge really had the hardest job, because he was following the standard set by Leather. After all, Fadestar never knew her own mother, so she was used to substitute mother-figures. But she adored her father, and from what we knew of Leather, it doesn't seem like he and True Edge were all that much alike. Little things in this story seem to bear that out. It makes this dynamic really interesting, and it'd be cool to see more of it.

I'd love to see more of these two together after getting this first glimpse of this interaction, and even though one would suspect that these two would not mesh well right from the start, it is nice to see that story told to the readers.

I really like the dynamics between TE and FS... and yet... what I think I'm still mulling over is the "where are you going" and the "be back by..." because those are something I more imagine human parents doing. I don't think I'd imagined that for elven parents... but it probably - and obviously does happen.

I love how True Edge can be frustrated by Fadestar challenging him, and be proud of her at the same exact time for the same exact thing. It really shows his depth of character and his strong wolf sensibilities that he wants her to stand on her own two feet. At the same time we get to see his authoritarian nature in needing her to treat him with respect. Very nicely handled. And glad to finally hear the "you're not my father" line I'd been waiting for :)

Interesting! I hadn't picked up on the True Edge / Fadestar conflict or strained relations before, but this was a great glimpse at them. I like how it's True Edge who can see beyond the confrontational aspects to have pride in her strength, it really gives me hope that they can reconcile what's festering. Now if only we could get a peek inside Fadestar's head, I'm curious what her perspective on this is! :)

Glad to see this up! Finally we get a closer look at the relationship between those two - it looks like an interesting one ^^. I like how True Edge is a bit at a loss about what Fadestar's problem is (well, he's male :p ...) but that he is willing to try and work on it! And Fadestar is so much the rebellious teenager ... I hope we'll get to see more on it soon!

This was really interesting. :) It's such a close to life interaction between a adopted child and a foster father. Even more, it seems so natural that Fadestar and TrueEdge are not on easy terms right away.
I second Megan. I'd like to see more of this :)

This was an interesting look into the relationship between True Edge and Fadestar. Up until now, I don't think we've really seen them interact much, but it was always understood that the relations between them were a little strained. Now we get to see that firsthand, and also the first steps towards trying to fix it. I hope we can see a little bit more interaction between them once Fadestar is older.
