I like this because Newt has a crush on Beetle and doesn't know it! He's all, "Why is my face burning up and my stomach flipping??" So cute!! Yes, I think someone has to give him "The Talk"!

Nice to see this glimpse of Newt and Beetle interacting. Sometimes it's hard to remember that she's technically his...adoptive sister? Something like that XD I like how she is able to make him see the voice of reason. And as others have said, the small hint of his awakening sexuality was a nice touch!

Beetle being a big sister to Newt is always an enjoyable read! Good way for her to solve the situation without Newt losing face, so to speak :)

I love seeing Beetle behave as an older sister here, its a nice change from seeing some of DF's stories.
Aw Newt is growing up, and starting to think in different ways. Though it doesn't seem like he quite understands it yet. Makes me wonder, do elf parents have 'the talk' with their children?
Over all I really enjoyed the story, great work!

Newt's relationships are just so interesting, all the way around! And he might be the character in the club that's we've seen interacting the most -- he's featured with just nearly everybody at this point isn't he? I love his interactions with Beetle here, her deft touch with him is wonderful.

:) Mel, I'm glad you liked this piece w/ Newt... and so glad that others liked it as well! :) Newt's such a sweet character to read about - I enjoyed writing him... and it's nice that he has the stubborn streak - makes him more interesting! :)

I'm glad to see Beetle acting the wise older sister to Newt here. Newt is obviously doing his best to be a productive member of the tribe.

What I like here is the fact that this is continuing the theme of Newt as a surprisingly stubborn boy (which is easy to forget, as he's such a sweetheart); plus, it highlights the sort-of technically-siblings relationship that he and Beetle share, which is always nice to see picked up on.

The way you write gives me an instant visual - I could definitely see Newt in the pouring rain, by the river bank, getting soaked and chilled to the bone but far too stubborn to give in. Beetle was a perfect foil for him, and I'm glad someone got him out of the rain with an excuse he could handle before the sun came up! :) I agree with the others, the subtle comments about him becoming more adult are fantastic, and I can't wait to see what else is in store for him!

Lyn, I told you how MUCH I love this. There is So much going on here. I just love how you portrait Newt here - His way of not complaining but doing something. And I like how you worked out the relationship between him and Beetle. It’s no wonder he’s crushing on her. She’s so warm, sharp and sweet :P
Like others pointed out I really like how you put his awaking sexuality in. It’s so subtle. Just a blink of it. I love this story so much…

Oh, that was such a sweet story! I love how stubborn Newt is and how Beetle finds just the right words to make him give up without losing his face. And it's really great how you worked Newt's confusing teenage thoughts into it ^^.

*sigh* Yes, growing up is not the easiest thing one has to do. ;) So many new feelings and "strange" motions. I really like how you lightly put his awakening sexuality into this story.
