This beautifully shows Beetle's curiosity and scientific frame of mind! Also she's an older cub now so can talk to Goldspice more like an adult ~ mentally, of course. Surprised Beetle survived childhood with Notch as a brother! :/

Clever of Beetle's to use Goldspice's curiosity to get the smith on her side, so to speak. And now I'm also curious about what was in that egg-shaped rock!

Poor Beetle :) I like that she's sweet and rather naive to her brother's attempts to get her into hot water.

I also like the turnout, too -- seeing Beetle and Goldspice interact was a nice treat, and I liked how the latter helped Beetle to further her intellectual interests.

It's great in this story to see Beetle's experimental nature coming out so early -- and also to see that from a very early time, her big brother was more than willing to aid and abet her! I like that Goldspice caught her in the end, though -- as you say, there are more stories to be told here, and I'd love to see them.

One of the fun things about writing stories like this is all the OTHER stories that could be written out of it... like what Notch *did* to get Goldspice out of her forge - and why it didn't last too long! Or what Beetle and Goldspice learned from the experiment, etc... :) Looking forward to seeing what others come up w/! :)

Oh I’d liked to know how that went on. But it’s a good end to the story showing the start of something and a bit insight of Beetle as a character. It’s so neat to see her as a little one and how determined she is. Her thirst of knowledge is impressing and … I just want to know what Notch did to get Goldspice out of the way XD
All in all I really like the little things of this. The challenge, Goldspice’s reaction and in the end how it really focus more on the “this is the beginning of another story” thing.

Hehe, I really like seeing Beetle displaying her curiosity! She just doesn't go for the easy way, and when she's got something into her head she doesn't give up. Good to see that Goldspice was receptive for that!

Oh, Beetle. ^_^ I'm glad to see she retains the curiosity but has learned to ask more... and maybe even be more specific with favors from her brother.

Starskimmer plants her face in her hands and shakes her head ruefully 'My daughter couldn't just get a bigger rock to try and break it open, she just HAS to try something different.'

Haha I love reading about my "kids". Thanks for another Beetle adventure. :)
