I like how Beetle overcomes her discomfort of cubs with viewing Foxtail as an individual person who happens to be afraid of storms. It's hard for me to imagine Foxtail as ever being afraid though! LOL

I'd love to see the reason why Foxtail came to Beetle, this makes an odd pairing, but it's a great show of how Beetle can dislike a situation but make the best of it. Your descriptions of Foxtail as a very young child are great, and like others have said, the imagery of the two elves looking out at the storm is really strong!

I can totally feel with Beetle here, kids make me awkward, too. But she handles the situation well. Guess it is all it takes, huh, letting the kid take the lead and show you what to do.

Sending is such a useful magic and I love when it is shown as such! Beetle sharing her own view of the storm to calm Foxtail was sweet and clever.

:) Angie, thank you for this story! It's so sweet, so tender. And I think you did a fantastic job balancing Beetle's discomfort with cubs with her compassion toward another. :) Neat how she was able to get Foxtail to relax...

On another note, this is such an interesting background story for Foxtail... with the fear of storms when she was young, to what happened during a storm later in life. *hugs Foxtail.*

I'm glad to see an early development of the freindship between the two!

I think it's only natural, when you've got a character who's defined as not being that comfortable with children, to get the urge to throw her together with some. :) What I find intriguing here is that of all the possible dens, Foxtail chose Beetle's to run to.

Aww, how cute! Beetle seems to end up with cubs a lot considering she doesn't get along with them well - but it's sweet how she tries anyway! Little Foxtail is very cute, too :).

Cubs breaking down barriers seems to be a common element in our stories lately. It was interesting to see Beetle, not known for appreciating cubs, break down and comfort little FT.

What a cute scene of life. I like how you captured Beetel's gentle-hearted resigning and Foxtail's childlike fear.
The last scene was so clear in front of my eyes... Sweet.. just sweet.
