I like the stories where they explain (a sometimes inexplicable) change of hair/clothing style to our elves! LOL!

Heh, cute! Was a first draft to have her hair catch fire? I love that Beetle's so quick with the water - and continuing to have to use it. Great little story. It's nice to see Snowfall, Kestrel, Beetle and Rill all interacting here. It's a great look into a bit of everyday life for them. And nice that Kestrel's new look has a bit of backstory; even if it's not super-dramatic!

This is full of full little details -- now I want to grab my taper candles and my little stubby candles and burn them tonight, to see which seem to burn brighter!

Seeing one of Beetle's experiments bear fruit was nice; most stories I've read of her experiments have been set during the trial-and-error stage, so this was a bit different. And Kestrel's comment about how her hair hadn't been short since before Snowfall was born reminded me of how extremely old she actually is, which I find was a very good point to make. It's easy to forget that she's basically ancient, compared to the others, what with the River Twine elves living so much in the Now.

Megan, thanks again for letting me work with you on this story! :) It was fun! :) And it was great to bring different elements into it - like Rill, and the Human Word Hunt and what happens as a result of observing them... and changes in appearance! :) Glad you all are enjoying the story!

Cool to see the elves picking up things from their observation of the humans! Of course Beetle would want to try making taper-candles, just to see why it is the humans prefer that shape! :) And I like how the reason for Kestrel's hair-do change is slipped in there, and how it's not much of a reason at all -- but why not? Who really needs a better reason for a superficial change than just "whim"?

It's neat to see Beetle at work here, and also how seeming everyday events can cause change in characters :)

Ooo, I saw her new look, but only just now read her reasoning for it. I like seeing our eldest elder feeling a bit youthful, and I LOVE seeing the two most mature ladies of the tribe playing around like new lovemates. And of course, welcome Rill!

I agree with Mel - there's a lot going on in this story that I think is great to see, and I especially liked that Kestrel decided to change her look without something drastic happening! I also liked seeing Rill at a greater age - the first glimpse we got at him not being a baby anymore :p.

Great work, you two!

Oh I like it that Kestrel didn't need something happening too cut her hair. :D That somehow fits her very good. :)
I also liked how this "danger" of burning the long hair by accident was brewing all the story long and in the end DIDN'T happen.
It was also interesting to see Beetle working on something and being all in her element and how they start to learn more from the humans :) There is a lot in this story :D

Hehe and the comment about getting lazy with a look... I can relate!
