As a vegetarian I think the hunting is the thing about our elves that I have the hardest time wrapping my mind around. I could really sympathize with Farscout here - while Brightwood might have sided with Quick Fang I'm with Farscout all the way about sparing fawns XD
It's also great to get to see Brightwood and Farscout getting to know each other again, and to be reminded of what Brightwood has missed out on.

The basis for this story was a real life encounter I had with a newborn fawn last summer. It was one of those "way cool!" moments which then got me thinking... okay, how can I turn this into fic? I've been wanting an excuse for years now for the Farscout/Quick Fang encounter that earns him that scar, so two 'n two makes four...

I really liked this look at an encounter we've kind of known about for a long time, but we didn't know the story behind it -- and the story itself wasn't quite what one might have expected, either. I like that it shows the sentimental/romantic side to Farscout, something that's always been there, but it's neat to see it come up in a surprising way. You can kind of see Quick Fang's point, here. ;-) But it still makes sense that Farscout is able to reinforce his place in the pack and his ability to make even an unpractical, sentimental gesture stick.

I like the whole concept of BW learning more about her tribemates through tales from the past that happened when she was asleep. It makes one wonder what other stories might have passed between the two of them during quiet moments.

The little anecdote was both touching and funny, and love BW's response at the very end!

This is beautiful! I especially liked seeing that BW and FS had a different opinion of The Fawn... and think it would have been fun to see QF and BW *both* want it...

I agree. It's so weird to see Farscout happy and all relaxed. But also very nice. I like the lazy feeling and how they start to get to know each other again. Yeah scars can tell so much :)
And I like the snapshot of Quickfang as well. Nice little tale :) I enjoyed it very much.

It's a little weird to see Farscout so happy, but he's waited long enough, right? :-) I liked the lazy interaction, and how it resulted into a story. Also -- Loved how Brightwood told Farscout she would do the same!! Either Quick Fang and Brightwood will get along, or they are each others' opposites :P

such a sweet scene between Farscout on Brightwood! I love the 'lazy afternoon' feel of it. The story is great of course! Quick Fang and her teeth! Though hey .. the name alone should've been a warning haha! But I love the thought of Brightwood and Farscout lounging and recounting what she's missed ... sweet!
