What an interesting idea! I really liked this short story. :) I got the sense through your writing of elves telling stories through the whole scene, but the focus was on Dreamflight's thoughts. I particularly liked the line about letting the thought fly away.

I rather think that Dreamflight's decision here not to tell HER side of the story is she's got to be used to the rest of the tribe reacting negatively when she does try to get sympathy for her "heart-wound". Dreamflight's solitary pity-party is just so interesting when it comes up against Honey's equally self-sustaining pity-party!

There are lots of stories that aren't told... hopefully, over time, we'll read them all (okay everyone... get writing! :) ) :)

Amazing how much information and depth you put into this short story. Really liked to see Dreamflights version of the events...

A look into Dreamflight's thoughts I really wanted to see and that was delivered perfectly! Knowing that she, who's at least somewhat like Honey in personality, can come to terms with Greenweave's "betrayal" is very heart-warming in a bittersweet sort of way. Hopefully Honey won't ruin all this with harsh words...

I like the take you took on the contest here -- I'm sure throughout each of the Howls, there were tales not told, and it's a nice reminder that thought has been put in to what's being shared with those loved ones.

I'm ashamed I never commented on this story as I was very happy to see it written. I'm happy that someone showed that Dreamflight can put her own needs aside for the needs of someone she cares for.
It's short but perfect. Thank you for writing this :)

Great little idea, Lyn! Short, but powerful -- I really hope that Dreamflight DOES get to tell her story to Honey and Greenweave someday, but I admire her wisdom in knowing that this wasn't the time.

That is a great little vignette - very great idea of a story about a story not told. Though I agree with Mel; Honey and Greenweave should hear that story!

I like the idea of a story on a howl not been told. Through... I really think Honey and Greenweave as well should hear it. It might get them talking.
