I love looking at Otter's relationship with Newt, especially before the opened cocoon. Otter is so sweet to talk to this person he doesn't even know, and offer to be his friend and brother. Just a very sweet story. :)

A continuation of Otter's (so far) one-sided friendship with Newt was an interesting thing to read. The change in the dynamic, the "older brother"-view, felt realistic and fit well with later stories (which I have read in the wrong order, stupid I know).

Thank you all :)
It was fun to write this. I liked the idea from Mike so much back then I had to pick it up again :D
ANd Thanks a lot to Chris who was so patient with me during the review and corrections.

I really liked seeing you return to this idea. I like the fact that Otter has grown up a little, but he hasn't let go of his hopes regarding Newt. I do hope we get to see some of them together and being friends now that Newt is awake!

I'd really love to see what happened with these two after Newt's unwrapping. It seems like both Newt and Otter have best friends waiting here :)

Lovely work, Melanie! I hope to see you and Arthur pursue more of this friendship, now that Newt is out in the world again. And thank you, as well, for showing us Otter growing up, as well! It's such a challenge to see both Otter & Crackle getting all-growed-up! ::sniffling::

Aww, that is so cute! I really hope their friendship will develop! Otter falls a bit outside the massive group of cubs, because he's somewhat older than the rest, but it's nice to see him involved. Can't wait to read more about their relationship; it should be an interesting one ;-)

I love that you picked up this idea again and showed how it changed with Otter now being the older! Hopefully he will be able to help Newt a bit and they will become friends :).

I love this. It's so neat to see Otter as both budding adult and child-at-heart. I love the way he recognizes the changes in himself, how he finds it harder to imagine... it's so true. And I'm glad that he stuck it out and still has that little Otter in him. Newt is one lucky little elf boy to have Otter for a friend!
