One-Leg was totally concerned! The fact that you see that in the fist sentence of the next scene shows that he's been more concerned than he let on!! I wonder how strong a curse word "Shards" is. LOL!

I find this one really interesting, because of Starskimmer comparing Dash to Twig. Its a really common thing I've noticed in first time parents around me, always worried when they don't do things at the same time as their peers. I laughed at the end... also... shards seems like a curse in this context... so Dash's first word was curse.

Seeing as I'm a speech-language therapist this story hit home for me. Children who learn to talk late are the kind of children I mostly meet in day-to-day life so I' d me several conscerned parents, both those with children who have difficulties learning to speak and those who for some other reason just haven't started talking yet. I love how you hinted at Dash/Notch's lack of need for spoken language - he gets where he wants to by going there himself or requests things via body language and sending (when he needs to use that even, seeing as the adults step in to help him without him asking in any way). I could go on forever about language learning, as well as bring up my theories about the effect telepathy could have only verbal speech learning, but I shan't bore you. Just wanted to say that this story was both funny and inspiering and that I enjoyed it very much!

Oh, my gosh -- cute! LOL! I have to say, One-Leg DID take me by surprise at the start of the final scene. ;) Very funny the little competition he was having with Starskimmer. I absolutely ADORE what you had Dash's first word be! :D Children WILL repeat what they hear, huh...?

I like seeing both One-Leg and Starskimmer as worried parents; it's not a side we get to see often. These two are usually so fun-loving! And I guess Dash's first word makes perfect sense :p

Awww... thanks everyone! :) I had it stuck in my head that Notch would speak later than "normal" and that when he did, he'd be speaking in full sentences... :) Some stubbornness, but also some confidence-- that he waited until he *could* speak and do it right. :) All the better that he learned his first words from dear old daddy... :)

How perfect! :D Given who Notch's father is, is anyone surprised at his first words?

Hee hee! I love that Notch's first words were what they were. Now I wonder where he got that from? ;) I love the little "past vignettes" you write -- we get such interesting little trivia-like tidbits from them, and they're fun to read :)

I love it that his very first word is a curse word... ;)

LOL, always the little troublemaker. Poor Snuff, who just lets the toddler get away with everything. I really liked the story and especially One-Leg, who seems to be indifferent at first but then is caught redhanded. And Dash spoke in full sentences! Here's hoping that One-Leg didn't curse too much around the lad.... :-) I also loved the way Starskimmer is being portrayed as a mother; we usually see quite the opposite side of her, and this is a welcome change.

LOL: That was sweet. And I can say indeed every child has it's own tempo. My nices didn't speak till she was almost a year old and even than O_O barely. Therefore I didn't really worry for Dash. He seemed very active and healthy XD I liked the "torturing the wolf" the best somehow XD And I like that you picked another POV for the two first days.

That was really cute :) And little Notch is just ... a lovely handful XD

Aww, little Notch is cute! He's been a rascal at that age already, I can tell XD. And I like the interaction between One Leg and Starskimmer a lot!
