I love the generous way that Cloudfern is quite clear in his requirements for Honey to be a part of Newt's life - he's really quite clearheaded and responsible about it all. And oh, Honey. I'd like to think that her sly/manipulative side is obvious here because of all her pain, and you write that pain and fear so clearly. It's interesting to see her lash out and try to get a reaction - and the last few lines are very intriguing!

Thanks again :)
I was soooo nervous when I gave this story to the SAT and to approval. The first story that wasn't about Newt but two elves I don't own myself. I'm happy how it turned out and even more that you liked it!

I love getting longer glimpses of Cloudfern - makes it so much easier to think out future stories! And this was a very telling story, both about Cloudfern and Honey. I'd love to see more interaction between these two, as well as Honey and Greenweave, and Honey and Newt!

You've done a really nice job of portraying both Honey and Cloudfern here, and it's interesting to watch them interact. I liked seeing the different ways their minds worked, and how you portrayed the characters in a nicely complex fashion :)

You really did a wonderful job with this, Mel! So much going on here! I really liked the way you depict Honey being what we think of as her characteristic self -- poking others and trying to play the victim -- but, she *is* sympathetic here, in a way, too. And I thought Cloudfern was done perfectly here -- patient, too wise to be riled, but also more than willing to put his foot down with her. Great contrast -- and wonderfully set up at the end to be ominous, as well!

This story shows us why it's so easy to think of Honey as the vixen, but at the same time why she's such a sympathetic character--she's misunderstood... and I think SHE doesn't even understand herself. I found Cloudfern to be very patient here... and yet I love the way he drops the idea that he, too, knows Greenweave like she did.
2014: Honey, Honey, Honey! STOP already, you're torturing yourself! And not making any friends in the process. I look forward to the day when you realize you're spiting yourself!

Whee, you know I think this is great! You got Honey very well, and I especially like that she caught the hint at Cloudfern and Greenweave exchanging soul names.
Still, for all her nastiness I can't help but feel sorry for Honey, too. In her mind she's clearly the victim, and though it's not correct it's an ugly state of mind to be in. I hope she will be able to work through her issues one day ...

I like seeing Cloudfern in stories; he's more drawn than written (or at least it feels that way). I liked the way he kept so calm when Honey bordered on hysteria -- but I also felt slightly sorry for Honey, as well. She goes through a difficult time and though much of it is her personality, she's being... avoided. Sure, she's vile, but there's more to it than that! I'm looking forward to some Newt-Honey interaction :)
